Industry emits huge amount of CO2 and Particulate Matter (PM) in the form of flue gas emissions and the removal and Utilization of these products are of great significance with regard to the environment.
CO2 and PM can be removed separately; however, this is neither the most economical nor efficient way to accomplish the task.
The AECOS Four (4) stage process described herein is designed for removing and Encapsulating CO2 and PM from industrial flue gas in four (4) stages as follows: Flu Scrubbing (FS), Electrolytic Coagulation (EC), Dry Cake Filtering (DCF) and Production of “Light Weight Aggregate” (LWA), in order to encapsulate the CO2 & PM so that it cannot be reintroduced to the environment.
These processes are connected in series. The CO2 and PM removal efficiencies were studied on a Pilot System with results showing CO2 and PM removal efficiencies of the system to be 90% and 98%, respectively.
Final results of the “End Product” (LWA) showed that the CO2 and PM was sufficiently encapsulated in the LWA, insomuch as it was not leachable and was stable (inert).
The product (LWA) can then be used in the production of light-weight concrete products such as highway barriers, planters and other not structural products.
In the industry, the sale of products made from this LWA eliminates the need to Capture CO2 and to Dispose of PM.
Revenue from the sale of this by-product can offset all of the cost associated with the of processing.
